Unless you've been living under a rock this year you all know about the grave situation in Haiti.
“The 2010 Haiti earthquake was a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 MW earthquake, with an epicentre near the town of Léogâne, approximately 25 km (16 miles) west of Port-au-Prince, Haiti's capital. The earthquake occurred at 16:53 local time (21:53 UTC) on Tuesday, 12 January 2010. By 24 January, at least 52 aftershocks measuring 4.5 or greater had been recorded. As of 12 February 2010, an estimated three million people were affected by the quake; [8] the Haitian Government reports that between 217,000 and 230,000 people have died, an estimated 300,000 injured, and an estimated 1,000,000 homeless. The death toll is expected to rise. They also estimated that 250,000 residences and 30,000 commercial buildings had collapsed or were severely damaged. "
Those are very large numbers. 230000 human lives is a VERY steep price. So compared to that what's to you for a couple of dollars that could help so many people in that kind of a tragedy! If each and every person in Canada donated 1 dollar to this cause we would have 34,052,000 $!
Such a help to all those human lives that have been lost, all children so young and Innocent, the adults who worked hard to survive their government, their capital city and everyone knows that when a capital city goes so does the rest of the country. All their original structures are gone by the force of this tragedy everything they had ... all gone. Please help in ANYWAY POSSIBLE!
If you can't donate ask a parent! Tell a teacher! A friend! ANYONE! Take a look around you...what if it happened here? What would you do? How would you feel? What would you do after the media stopped covering? The government didn't give any news of helping again? How would YOU get their attention? Please help those how need your help. The Red Cross officials are on the ground in Haiti, doing their best! To help go to http://www.redcross.ca/haiti2010/index.asp , you'll find more information about Haiti and ways to help :) Do all you can.
